RecallChek

RecallChek

Since 1974, American citizens have been protected from dangerous items in their homes by law. If a manufacturer has designed a dangerous product, they MUST recall all those items and FIX THEM FOR FREE!

The problem in the law is that most often it's up to you, the consumer, to find out whether your appliances are potential fire or safety hazards!

There's a database online, but you would have to wade through 195 MILLION recalled items to find out if your dishwasher or air conditioner is a potential hazard.

As a result, many of these dangerous appliances are still in homes across America.

Making America's Homes Safer One Appliance At A Time

RecallChek

RecallChek

... is the first service for consumer recalls in the United States

... has compiled over 195 million recalls from public records, and created a fail-safe system to check for dangerous flaws with home appliances.

Consumer Product Safety Commission

How it works:

✓ Your Home Inspector will copy the model numbers of your built-in home appliances and HVAC system.

✓ The inspector will send us your recall Model Number Report. (Home Inspectors are often NOT allowed to move appliances)

✓ At RecallChek Headquarters, your model numbers are computer matched against MILLIONS of recalls using our Model Number Algorithm (MNA).

✓ We then hand-check the report, to eliminate wrong numbers from worn plates and ID cards and other problems.

✓ In the event of a potential recall, RecallChek issues a report including:

  1. the nature of the recall,
  2. where the product was sold,
  3. how to remedy the defect, and
  4. how to get the item repaired / replaced, in most cases, absolutely FREE

Finding the Numbers...

On most appliances, the Make, Model and Serial numbers can be found rather easily. The following instructions fit most makes and models.

Refrigerators:

Look just inside the main cabinet door of the refrigerator. Either on the ceiling or sidewall you will find the manufacturer's decal of information. Higher-end units with compressors on top have removable grills with data plates behind them. Some older model refrigerators have a data name plate at the bottom frame near the hinges.

Dishwashers:

Nearly all makes and models have the data plate or decal inside the tub frame or on the edge of the door.

Disposals:

The decal will be on the cylinder or on the bottom in most cases.

Ranges, Ovens, and Cooktops:

Open the oven doors and look around the frames for data plates. Sometimes they are hidden behind the control panel. Use a mirror to get a better look. Cooktops can be tricky; remove burner covers on some models and others have the data plate under the unit which means you might have to stand on your head to see them inside the cabinet.

Microwaves and Other Appliances:

Generally located inside the appliance or labeled on the surface.

Water Heaters:

All water heaters have a data plate on the front of them. There is more information than you need to collect, so make sure of what you are writing down.

Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps:

The inside units have data plates right on the covers. The outside units are also somewhere on the cabinets themselves. You will find that the weather has worn away the numbers and it will be difficult to do a RecallChek on that appliance. In such cases, enter "None Found" in the Model number field.

These are the basic appliances observed in the average home, but, keep in mind, RecallChek can perform recalls on up to 30 appliances installed in your home. So, don't stop with just these mentioned.
